Google Chrome OS unveiled, released to open source community

Announced at MWC 2009, the HTC Touch Pro2 smartphone has most of the basic features you expect from a smartphone. In fact, it doesn't try too hard to stand out from the pack. Its only unique feature is a technology called Straight Talk that should greatly improve the quality of speakerphone conversations.

The specs are as follows: a 3.6-inch, 480 x 800 pixel resolution touchscreen, a QWERTY keyboard, a 528 MHz Qualcomm MSM7200A processor, Windows Mobile 6.1 Professional, 512 MB of ROM, 288 MB of RAM, a microSD memory card slot, a 3.2-megapixel autofocus camera, and a 1500mAh LiIon battery. The HTC Touch Pro2 weighs 6.17 ounces with the battery and measures 4.57 x 2.33 x 0.69 inches.

The HTC Touch Pro2 is available on T-Mobile for $349.99. A Sprint PDF document leaked on August 27th suggest a September 8th release date on that network and an unsubsidized price of $599.99. Sprint later announced that the phone will indeed launch on its network on September 8th, and named the subsidized price at $349.99 with a two-year contract and after a $100 mail-in rebate.
