The HTC Touch 3G is an upgrade to the Touch series of smartphones with access to the faster generation of mobile phone-ready internet networks known as 3G. The handset's touch screen navigates the Windows Mobile 6.1 Professional operating system. The Touch series emphasises versatility, with standard cell phone trappings, a music and video player, 3.2 megapixel camera, mobile versions of Microsoft Office applications like Word and Excel, and web functions like browsing, email, and downloads which HTC claims will receive a substantial speed boost thanks to 3G capability. Storage will depend mostly upon MicroSD cards, which can scale upwards of 8GB, but are sold separately. HTC hopes the Touch 3G will be a Windows-based competitor to the iPhone 3G.
