The HTC HD2 (formerly dubbed Leo and Firestone) is the successor to the popular HTC Touch. The HD2 runs the new Windows Mobile 6.5 operating system.
It looks like it has some impressive technical specifications, too: specs include a 4.3-inch WVGA (approximately 800 x 480 pixels) display, a 1 GHz Spapdragon processor, 256 MB of RAM, 512 MB of ROM, a 5-megapixel camera, and micro SD expansion. It should work on GSM and HSDPA networks, and support Wi-Fi and Bluetooth as well.
The biggest news is that the HD2 has a capacitive, multi-touch screen — a first for a Windows Mobile 6.5 phone. Since Windows Mobile 6.5 doesn't support that sort of thing natively, HTC has basically hacked it into some of the apps, including Google Maps.
An HTC rep told SlashGear that it will launch in the United States in the first quarter of 2010, and sure enough, a press release went out on November 4th, 2009 confirming that the HD2 would be on a "major U.S. carrier" in Q1 2010. The press release also announced that the HD2 was shipping early in Europe. T-Mobile is the UK carrier.
