RIM's first flip phone, the WiFi-enabled BlackBerry Pearl Flip 8820 handset can make calls using T-Mobile's UMA compatible Hotspot@Home service, and also features a 128 x 160 external display, a standard 3.5-millimeter headphone jack and a 2-megapixel camera. The Pearl Flip takes the input methods from its namesake, the original Pearl, and uses a SureType keypad and backlit trackball. Also, like the Pearl, the Flip has Bluetooth 2.0, a media player, built-in mapping software and the BlackBerry's trademark push-email support. The quad-band EDGE phone is went on sale on October 13, 2008 on T-Mobile's network.
