Officially announced on July 27, 2009, the BlackBerry Curve 8520 (also known by the Gemini name, and as the 8325 in early rumors) isn't going to turn any heads with its appearance or its specs but if you're looking for basic BlackBerry smartphone functionality and nothing else, you don't need to look elsewhere. The 8520 is expected to arrive on August 5th, 2009, in both black and frost colors from T-Mobile.

The BlackBerry Curve 8520 supports quad-band GSM / EDGE / GPRS, and features 802.11 b/g/n Wi-Fi, a 2-megapixel camera, 256MBs of RAM, a 512MHz processor, and a microSD card slot with an included 1GB card with support for up to 16GBs currently and expected support for 32GB cards once they become available. The screen resolution is a typical 320 x 240, and of course like most BlackBerry smartphones it has a QWERTY keypad. Although pricing is expected to be $130, a previously leaked roadmap that originally suggested a July release date priced the phone at $78, with a drop to $48 sometime in the following months. In late June it gained FCC approval.
