Google Chrome OS unveiled, released to open source community

The Archos 5 Internet Tablet is similar in many ways to the previous Archos 5 portable media player, but in addition to the standard Archos media features, it incorporates Google's Android framework. It's not a smartphone though; it only makes calls via VoIP over Wi-Fi.

Archos promises "screen width" web browsing, complete Flash support, either 160 or 500 gigabytes of hard drive storage, smooth 720p HD video playback, and up to seven hours of battery life, all in a device just 10 millimeters thin. Flash memory expansion is also available — 8 GB or 32 GB.

The Archos 5 starts at $250, but you can beef it up with better specs to as much as $440. it launched on September 15th, 2009.
