The HDC-HS250 is one of the latest high definition camcorders from Panasonic. Featuring touch-screen controls, the interface allows the user to operate the camcorder through icon based menus. The biggest change present in the HDC-HS250 is Panasonic's new 3MOS chip system. Putting three separate full-HD MOS sensors to work, the HS250 provides up to 9,150,000 pixels when capturing video. The camcorder can record still images (10.6-megapixels, and simultaneous still capture during video recording at 8.3-megapixels). Also new to the HDC series is the large-aperture Leica Dicomar lens. The Leica lens along with the luminance of 1.6 lx, means the HS250 can shoot video in extremely limited light. With its 120 GB hard drive, the HS250 can store up to 50 hours of video (in HE mode). The electronic viewfinder, microphone terminal, and smaller body (as compared to the Panasonic HDC-HS300) means the user can experience high image quality with the convenience of portability. Amidst the other features are its 1.9 seconds to power up, 5-microphone system for recording sound to be faithfully reproduced by a 5.1-channel surround sound system, and auto focus tracking.
