Google Chrome OS unveiled, released to open source community

JVC's GY-HM100U is designed to make your pro HD video recording and editing life just a tad bit easier by recording natively in the same file format used by Apple's popular Final Cut Pro video editing software. 720p, 1080p, and 1080i videos recorded are saved in the format to internal SDHC class 6 memory cards; depending on card configuration, you can store up to 64 GB (or six hours of video) of content on the camcorder, and edit it directly (no file copying or conversion necessary) after plugging it into your Mac.

The recording format is the flagship feature; everything else is par for the course for a prosumer HD camera: 24p film-style recording, XLR inputs for pro microphones, 35mbps recording, and so on. That said, the camera's lens is not removable — a deficiency that could be a dealbreaker for some pros. The GY-HM100U's starting price is $3,995, and it should become available some time in April.
