The Vixia HV30 is a Canon camcorder featuring a full HD, 2.96-megapixel CMOS sensor that records with 1920 x 1080 resolution, an HD video lens with 10x optical zoom capabilities, and a maximum high definition recording time of 80 minutes. The camcorder uses both a viewfinder and a 2.7-inch LCD screen, and is compatible with HD miniDV and miniDV cassettes. Like its predecessor, the HV20, this Vixia can record footage in the cinema quality 24p format, but the HV30 can also record in an Internet-friendly 30p format, and has ports for HDMI, FireWire, component and composite video connections. Canon has given the HV30 a range of auto-adjust functions as well, including optical image stabilization, instant autofocusing, and a number of scene modes. Prices start at $899.99.
